Effects of Dichlorprop and GA3 on Storability of ¢¥ Tsugaru ¢¥ Apple Fruits

Abstract
The study was conducted to determine the effects of 2,4-DP and GA©ý on storability of ¢¥Tsugaru¢¥ apples. Fruits treated with 2,4-DP alone lost their shelf life within 20 days at room temperature, while the shelf life of other treatments maintained up to 30 days. Weight loss and the incidence of disorder were more severe at room temperature especially in those fruits treated with 2,4-DP However, there was no significant difference between 1¡É and CA storage in weight loss and percent of disordered fruit. CO©ü evolution of the fruits was reduced when stored at 1¡É or under CA conditions, and was little affected by preharvest treatments except 2,4-DP alone. At room temperature, CO©ü evolution of 2,4-DP treated fruits declined for 20 days, while others exhibited a climacteric-like peak at 2s days of storage. Ethylene evolution increased by 2,4-DP treatment. Regardless of treatments, this was observed at room temperature. Preharvest application of 2,4-DP enhanced red color of fruit skin during storage. A spray with 2,4-DP stimulated the loss of fruit firmness and titratable acidity under all three storage conditions. Sucrose decreased at room temperature, but maintained at 1¡É and CA conditions.
